What is Zapier?

Zapier is an online automation platform that connects different apps together. It works by creating automated workflows called “Zaps”. A Zap has a trigger and one or more actions.

For example:

  • A new form submission (trigger) → send an SMS via Mobile Message (action)

  • A new Shopify order (trigger) → send a dispatch notification SMS (action)

  • A new row in Google Sheets (trigger) → send a reminder SMS (action)

Zapier acts as the bridge between systems. When something happens in one app, Zapier automatically tells another app what to do.

How many apps does Zapier connect to?

Zapier connects to thousands of apps across almost every category, including CRM systems, ecommerce platforms, accounting software, marketing tools, helpdesk systems, databases, and more. This makes it one of the most flexible ways to automate SMS messaging as part of your broader business processes.

Some of the most popular apps that connect with Zapier include:

  • Shopify

  • WooCommerce

  • Salesforce

  • HubSpot

  • Google Sheets

  • Gmail

  • Stripe

  • Typeform

  • Facebook Lead Ads

  • Slack

If an app connects to Zapier, you can usually trigger SMS messages from it using Mobile Message.

Common use cases

Customers typically use the Zapier integration for:

  • Sending order confirmations or shipping notifications

  • Alerting staff when a new lead or support ticket is created

  • Sending appointment reminders

  • Notifying customers when a payment is received

  • Sending alerts from internal systems

Because Zapier supports both triggers and actions, you can build very simple automations or more advanced multi-step workflows.

How to connect Mobile Message to Zapier

To connect your Mobile Message account to Zapier, you first need to create API credentials.

Log in to your Mobile Message account and go to Settings, then API. Click the button to create an API key. This will generate an API username and password. These credentials are used by Zapier to securely send messages through your account.

When setting up the Mobile Message connection inside Zapier, you will be prompted to enter your API username and password. Once entered and verified, Zapier will be able to send SMS messages on your behalf based on your chosen triggers.

Security and control

Your API username and password are unique to your account. You can create multiple API keys if needed and revoke them at any time from the API section in your account. If you ever suspect that your API credentials have been exposed, you can delete the key and create a new one immediately.

Costs

Zapier requires its own account and may charge based on the number of tasks you run each month (see their pricing here). Mobile Message does not charge extra for using Zapier. You only pay for the SMS credits used when messages are sent.

Getting started

You can access our integration with Zapier here: https://zapier.com/apps/mobile-message-ca21345/integrations

If you are new to automation, start with a simple Zap such as sending an SMS when a new form is submitted. Once that is working, you can expand into more complex workflows.

Zapier makes it possible to connect your SMS messaging to the rest of your business systems without custom development, making it a powerful tool for automation.
