Why was my payment declined?

Card payments can be declined for a few different reasons.

The first thing to check is with your bank. Make sure there are sufficient funds available and that the bank has not blocked the transaction for any reason, such as fraud prevention or spending limits.

International and prepaid cards are accepted. For security, card payments are verified with your bank using 3D Secure — a prompt from your banking app or a code sent by your bank to approve the payment.

If you see the message "We are unable to authenticate your payment method", the 3D Secure verification did not complete. Try the payment again and approve the verification prompt from your bank when it appears. If it still fails, check with your bank that the card is enabled for online 3D Secure payments, or try a different card.

Some payments — particularly the first payment on an account — may be held for a short review before credits are added. If this happens you'll see a "Payment received" confirmation, and your credits are added as soon as the review is complete.
