This guide walks you through sending a simple test SMS. It’s the fastest way to confirm your account is set up correctly and understand how sending works.
Before you start
Make sure you have some SMS credits available (free trial credits are fine).
For your first test, send to your own mobile number so you can confirm delivery immediately.
Step 1: Open the Send Messages page
Log in to Mobile Message and go to the Send Messages screen.
Step 2: Choose who you’re sending to
You can typically send to:
a single number (best for your first test)
a list (best for campaigns)
For your first message, let's just send a message to yourself. In the To box, start typing your name and click it when it appears, or click Contacts and select your name.
Step 3: Choose a sender
Your sender is what the recipient sees as the “From” on the message. Most new accounts will have these options available:
a Mobile Message shared number (recommended for testing)
your own mobile number
For this example, send the message from the shared number. This will also allow us to see test the replies.
Step 4: Write your message
Type a short test message, for example:
“Hi, this is a test message from Mobile Message.”
Watch the character counter as you type. Longer messages may be split into multiple SMS parts, which increases the credit cost.
Step 5: Check the credit cost
Mobile Message calculates message cost based on:
number of SMS parts (message length)
whether the message contains Unicode (emojis and some special characters)
If the cost is higher than expected:
remove emojis or special characters
shorten the message text
Step 6: Send the message
Click Send Messages to submit the message. It should arrive within a few seconds.
Optional: Test replies (two-way SMS)
If you sent from a Mobile Message number that supports replies:
Reply to the message from your phone.
Open the Messenger in Mobile Message.
Click on your name or phone number in the conversation list to view the conversation.
Send a response back from the platform.
If your first SMS didn’t arrive, work through these checks:
Check message status in history
If the message is still pending, wait briefly and refresh.
If the message shows as not delivered, check that the phone number is correct.
Check your phone's spam folder
Some phones (mostly Android) may incorrectly filter out messages as spam. Open your messages app and find the spam section in the settings. If it's there, mark the message as not spam to train the phone.
