Mobile Message & Make.com Integration
Mobile Message has its own app on Make (formerly Integromat). Add it to any Make scenario to send SMS, send to your contact lists, manage contacts and unsubscribes, and start a scenario the moment a reply comes in. There are no HTTP requests or webhook URLs to set up yourself.
Find the app here: https://www.make.com/integrations/mobile-message
What you can do
Triggers (start a scenario instantly)
- Watch inbound SMS runs when someone texts your dedicated number or verified own number, including opt-out replies.
- Watch delivery status runs when a message you sent is delivered or fails.
Actions
- Send SMS sends a message to one number, now or at a scheduled time.
- Send SMS to list sends a message to every contact in a list. Unsubscribed contacts are skipped automatically.
- Cancel scheduled messages cancels scheduled messages by message ID, custom reference or send ID, and refunds the credits.
- Contacts, Lists and List members modules create, update and delete contacts and lists, and add or remove contacts from lists.
- Add unsubscribe and Remove unsubscribe manage your opt-out list.
- Verify sender starts verification of your own number as a sender by sending it a verification SMS.
- Get account balance returns your credit balance.
Searches
- Search messages, Search inbound messages, Search contacts, Search unsubscribes, List lists, List contacts in list and List senders return records you can use later in the scenario.
Make an API call lets you call any endpoint in the Mobile Message API using your existing connection.
Step 1. Create an API key
- Log in to your Mobile Message account at https://app.mobilemessage.com.au/.
- In the menu, go to Settings > API.
- Under Create New API Key, enter a name such as "Make" and click Create API Key.
- Copy the API Username and API Password shown. The full password is only shown once, so keep it somewhere safe.
Step 2. Connect Mobile Message in Make
- In Make, create a new scenario or open an existing one.
- Add a module, search for Mobile Message, and choose the module you want, for example Send SMS.
- Click Create a connection.
- Enter your API Username in the API username field and your API Password in the API key field, then click Save.
You only need to do this once. Every Mobile Message module in your Make account can use the same connection.
Sending an SMS
The Send SMS module has these fields.
- Recipient phone number, an Australian mobile number such as 0412345678 or 61412345678.
- Message, the text to send. You can map values from earlier modules, such as a name from a form or an order number from your store.
- Sender, picked from the sender IDs, dedicated numbers and verified own numbers active on your account.
- Custom reference (optional), your own reference, returned in message history and in delivery status updates.
- Scheduled for (optional), a time to send the message. Leave it empty to send straight away.
- Unicode (optional), turn on to allow emoji and other special characters.
The message can also use placeholders such as {first_name}, {company} and {field_1} to {field_5}, which are filled in from the recipient's contact details in Mobile Message. Add {optout} to include an opt-out instruction.
Run the scenario once to test it. The module output shows the message ID and the credits used.
Sending to a contact list
Send SMS to list sends one message to every contact in a list in your Mobile Message account. Choose the list and sender, write the message (placeholders are filled in for each contact), and optionally schedule it or spread the send over a number of minutes with Stagger minutes. Contacts who have unsubscribed are skipped automatically.
Receiving replies and delivery updates
Start a scenario with Watch inbound SMS to act on replies as they arrive, for example to add a row to Google Sheets, create a CRM task or email your team. Receiving SMS needs a dedicated number or a verified own number.
Start a scenario with Watch delivery status to record whether each message was delivered.
When you set up either trigger, Make registers its webhook with your Mobile Message account for you, so there is nothing to paste into Settings > API. Your account holds one inbound webhook and one delivery status webhook, so adding a trigger replaces any URL already set for that type. Use each trigger in one scenario at a time. See Setting up webhooks for more on how webhooks work.
Make sure the scenario is switched on so it runs whenever a message arrives.
Testing without sending real messages
To build and test scenarios without delivering messages or using credits, create a sandbox under Settings > API and connect Make with an API key from the sandbox. See Test sandbox accounts.
Costs
Make has its own plans and counts operations each time a scenario runs (see Make's pricing). Mobile Message does not charge anything extra for using Make. You only pay for the messages you send.
