How to register a sender ID without an ABN

You can register a sender ID with Mobile Message even if your organisation doesn't have an ABN. Our online registration form requires an ABN, so the process for non-ABN entities is handled manually by our team.

Eligibility

To meet the ACMA's Sender ID Register rules, your organisation must be listed on an official government register. Common examples include:

  • the ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) — for registered charities and not-for-profits
  • a state association register — for incorporated associations registered with a state or territory authority
  • any other official Australian government register that records your organisation and issues a registration number

How to register your sender ID without an ABN

  1. Create a Mobile Message account at app.mobilemessage.com.au/register if you don't already have one.
  2. Email hello@mobilemessage.com.au with the following details:
  • the sender ID you would like to register
  • your organisation's name
  • your organisation's address
  • your organisation's phone number
  • your organisation's website
  • your registration number (and the register it's listed on — for example, ACNC ABN or your state association number)

Once we have all of these details, we'll set the sender ID up on your account and lodge the registration with the ACMA on your behalf.

Why we handle this manually

Under the ACMA's Sender ID Register rules, organisations without an ABN can only register through a certified provider (Mobile Message is one) or a partner of one. As a certified provider, we manage the registration and any future updates on your behalf. You won't be able to access the ACMA Register directly, so any changes to your sender ID details will go through us.
