Mobile Message Fast-Tracks Sender ID Applications

Mobile Message is an ACMA Certified Provider for the SMS Sender ID Register

Certified status means Mobile Message can verify sender ID applications using our own fast-track identity process and submit them directly to the national Sender ID Register on your behalf. In most cases, you can complete our verification in five to ten minutes, without needing to use ACMA Assist or the government’s myID app.

Certified status is a step above other participating telcos. This is a big milestone for our business, and it’s even bigger for our customers.

What is the ACMA Sender ID Register?

The Sender ID Register is being introduced in 2026 to reduce scam and impersonation messages. It’s designed to make it harder for criminals to send texts that look like they’re from trusted organisations, and to help Australians trust branded SMS again.

From 1 July 2026, branded sender IDs that aren’t registered will be replaced with ”Unverified” on consumer devices, which can undermine trust in legitimate messages.

The problem with the standard ACMA registration process

The standard ACMA sender ID register process in 2026 is creating real friction for businesses. Businesses using non-certified providers are typically required to complete the process through ACMA Assist, which involves:

  • Setting up access using the myID app
  • Navigating multiple steps across multiple government screens
  • Having ACMA contact the authorised person listed on your ABN to confirm the application

The result is that many valid sender ID applications never make it through to completion when ACMA Assist is used. The feedback we consistently hear is that the process is unclear, has too many steps, and is too easy to get stuck in or abandon halfway through.

ABN contact details: the hidden blocker

One of the biggest issues businesses run into with the standard ACMA process is the ABN verification step. ACMA’s process requires contacting the authorised person listed against your ABN on the Australian Business Register to confirm the sender ID application.

This creates problems when:

  • The contact details on your ABN are outdated — the listed phone number or email may belong to a former director, accountant, or registered agent who is no longer involved with the business.
  • The authorised person is hard to reach — they may be overseas, unresponsive, or simply unaware of the sender ID registration requirement.
  • Your ABN is managed by a third party — many businesses have their ABN registered through an accountant or company formation agent, and the contact details on file belong to that third party rather than anyone currently running the business.

In all of these cases, the standard ACMA process stalls. Your application sits in limbo, and the 1 July 2026 deadline keeps getting closer.

How Mobile Message bypasses the ACMA Assist process

As an ACMA Certified Provider, Mobile Message has a system in place to register your sender ID on the ACMA Sender ID Register without needing to go through ACMA Assist or the ABN authorised person verification step.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You apply for your sender ID inside Mobile Message.
  2. You complete our fast-track verification steps — we verify your identity and your right to use the sender ID using our own certified process.
  3. We submit directly to the register on your behalf. No ACMA Assist. No myID app. No waiting for the authorised person on your ABN to respond.

This means even if your ABN contact details are not current, or the process of reaching the authorised person on your ABN is too difficult, you can still get your sender ID registered through Mobile Message.

This isn’t about cutting corners. Certified Provider status exists precisely so trusted providers can take responsibility for verification and submissions, while removing unnecessary friction for legitimate businesses. It helps the register succeed by improving completion rates, and it helps customers avoid the very real risk of their messages being labelled “Unverified” or being blocked.
